About Soda Syphons

Soda or seltzer Syphon’s are what every home and commercial barkeep used to dispense soda water for the perfect cocktail, or you may have had your favorite egg cream made at your local drugstore with one of these! Also spelled “siphon” by the French, the concept of the self-pressurized carbonated beverage goes back to the late 1700s in France with the “modern” version produced a few decades later, more for sanitary reasons than for specialty drinks. Soda syphons were most popular in the 1920s and 1930s in soda fountains and bars. Although one can still find the occasional bar using soda syphons across the globe, they are mostly collected for display.
